This course challenges the trainee with more complex repairs, utilizing advanced “Pre-Preg” materials. Trainees perform repairs with state-of-the-art “Hot Bonders”. The focus of this module is on the more advanced methods for heat accelerated cures and includes instruction in LSP – Lightning Strike Protection.
Topics Covered
- Bonded repairs to thin, highly stressed structures
- Concentrates on more difficult and advanced repair situations & techniques
- Detection of flaws and damage in composite structures using various NDI methods, ie: “Tap-Testing”- mechanical impedance, ultrasound and infrared thermography
- Thermal characteristics of composites, avoiding heat related flaws in the repair process
- Programming “hot bonders” for control of accelerated cures and pre-preg fibers
- Performing repairs referencing the SRM ( Structural Repair Manual ) for various structures
Prerequisites
We strongly recommend Module 1 or equivalent theory and practical experience.
